About This Wiki:

The sixth graders at Parker Middle School participated in the 23rd annual Massachusetts Science Poetry Contest. This contest is organized and run by Dr. George Ladd, Professor at the Lynch School of Education, Boston College. Students were asked to write several poems in class that demonstrated both accurate scientific knowledge, and an understanding of poetic language. Poems could be entered in the following categories: Most Original, Most Humorous, Most Expressive, Best Long Poem, Best Cooperative Poem, Best Multi-grade Cooperative Poem, Best Foreign Language Poem, and Best Photo-Illustrated Poem. For more information, please visit the official website at: http://sites.google.com/site/masssciencepoetrycontest/.

Teachers were allowed to submit up to 35 of the best entries from our school. These poems were sent on to be judged against other students from Massachusetts. As you may imagine, it was difficult to narrow down the entries. Therefore, we felt it was important to provide a place for all of the participating students to publish their work. The purpose of this wiki is to do just that. Each student selected his/her favorite entry and uploaded it to the wiki based on category.

We hope you enjoy the science poetry from the Parker Poets!
